Eastern Corporate Federal Credit Union (EasCorp) and its subsidiary, Vertifi Software, LLC (Vertifi), announced today that DeposZip, Vertifi’s proprietary remote deposit capture (RDC) service for consumers and businesses, surpassed $1 billion in cumulative deposits since the program’s inception.
DeposZip enables credit union members, including business account owners, to deposit checks from their homes, offices, or almost anywhere, with the use of a simple desktop scanner or the camera contained in a mobile device. Vertifi developed DeposZip as the first-of-its-kind remote deposit capture system built for consumers and made commercially available to financial institutions. Alan Bernstein, Vertifi’s president says, “The program’s rapid adoption and expansion can be attributed to a variety of factors, including its convenience for consumers and cost effectiveness for credit unions.”
DeposZip’s initial introduction was desktop based, relying on a PC and scanner. DeposZip evolved in January 2010 when its first version of DeposZip Mobile was launched. In its infancy, DeposZip Mobile™ enabled members to make deposits via a downloadable application (app) developed exclusively for the iPhone®. Since that time, DeposZip has expanded to include apps for the iPad® and iPod touch®, as well as Android™ devices.
The introduction of DeposZip Mobile has accelerated the program’s growth trajectory. Registered users have grown from 78,000 to 140,000 in the past year alone, and average daily deposits across nearly 70 participating credit unions now exceed $2 million
