Kodak Delivers New Low-Volume Remote Deposit Capture Check Scanner

Monday, February 12, 2007 (Eastman Kodak Company)

ROCHESTER, N.Y., Feb. 12, 2007—The shift from paper checks to remote scanning and deposit technology is gaining a foothold in the small- and medium-sized business market. Businesses in this space see the value in getting a jumpstart on realizing their cash flow. To meet these growing needs, Eastman Kodak Company today announced at the BAI TransPay Conference & Expo for the financial services industry that it is adding a new check scanner to its Check Imaging Solutions portfolio.

The KODAK i6015 Check Scanner joins the KODAK i6060 and KODAK i6090 Check Scanners along with image capture and transmission software, image archive, and a host of support and service options. The expanded portfolio improves the management, archiving and communication of deposit and payment-related information, leading to accelerated clearance of funds and reductions in costs associated with check processing for businesses, government agencies and banks.

Electronic check processing is catching the interest of these organizations since the federal Check Clearing for the 21st Century Act, known as Check 21, removed barriers to electronic check processing, setting the stage for checks to clear—and money to be moved—in a matter of hours instead of days.

“Remote deposit and payment capture is ramping up in small- and medium-sized businesses and government offices. They typically have a small volume of items to capture on a daily basis. The new check scanner, when coupled with our thin Internet Client software, allows operators to easily meet the demands of those environments,” said Andy Lawrence, Worldwide Solutions Business Manager, Document Imaging, Graphic Communications Group. “Kodak is world renowned for delivering a benchmark ‘out-of-box’ experience to customers. Our solution is easy to use and allows these customers to get scanning in minutes at a compelling price point."

The KODAK i6015 Check Scanner maintains the same small footprint and high image quality of the KODAK i6060 and KODAK i6090 scanners but has a single item feed mechanism and is designed for average daily transactions of 25 checks-per-day. This dramatically lowers the cost of the device while still retaining a throughput of 30 items-per-minute. The KODAK i6015 Check Scanner has a U.S. list price of $850 and is available with an inkjet accessory for printing endorsements for $950.

Rounding out the portfolio, Kodak offers professional services that support the smooth delivery of the product into a customer’s environment—including site inspections, installation of hardware and software, consulting services, software customization, and product training. Additionally, there are a variety of service agreement offerings, delivered by KODAK Service & Support, the benchmark service provider for the document imaging industry.

The new scanner will be available through Kodak’s Premier Solutions Resellers this month.
