TAMPA, Fla. -August 15, 2011 – Providing more convenience for its members while staying ahead of local competitors, GTE Federal Credit Union (GTE FCU) is the first credit union in the Tampa Bay area to offer a remote deposit capture system that allows members to make deposits from their scanner, iPhone or Android phone.
The application, called Deposit2Go®, is one of three new services GTE FCU is offering for free to its customers.
The remote capture system allows users to send an image of a check from their Android, iPhone or scanner and make an almost immediate deposit. Users of the Deposit2Go® mobile application, which is available for free download from the iPhone Store and Android Market, can access copies of deposited checks online for 18 months.
Based on a check of the top 25 credit unions listed in the Tampa Bay Business Journal’s 2010 Book of Lists, GTE FCU is the first local credit union to offer this technology, highly desired by customers who don’t want to have to go to ATMs or GTE FCU financial centers to make deposits. According to a May 2011 Javelin Strategy & Research survey, one of every four U.S. consumers and one of every two mobile banking customers want remote deposit capture.
Another free and convenient service being implemented by GTE FCU is ZashPay®, a system that allows users to transfer and receive funds electronically to anyone with a U.S. bank account by using a mobile telephone number or e-mail address. This service is available to customers enrolled in GTE FCU’s online Bill Pay system.
“We are very pleased to offer these new services, because we know that our customers want more services online or through their mobile devices,” said Chad Burney, GTE FCU’s Senior Vice President of Virtual Banking and Chief Information Officer. “We aim to give our customers best-in-class service, and these new applications will help us do that.”
