Business Users of Macs Can Now Make Remote Deposits to Wells Fargo with Panini Scanners

Friday, May 25, 2012 (Wells Fargo & Company)

Installation of a plug-in is only needed to begin scanning deposits
SAN FRANCISCO- May 25, 2012 - Wells Fargo & Company announced it has become the first major financial services company to natively support Macs for remote deposit capture.

The new service is available to all Wells Fargo Commercial Electronic Office® (CEO®) Desktop Deposit® users who connect Panini scanners with iMac, MacBook Pro, MacBook Air, Mac mini, and Mac Pro computers. Installation of a plug-in is only needed to begin scanning deposits.

“Wells Fargo supports the technology our customers use in the workplace and wherever they go,” said Katie Knight, who heads the CEO Desktop Deposit service for Wells Fargo. “Apple is growing its business market substantially, and we’ve partnered with Panini to support Macs for remote deposit capture to ensure we are meeting the changing needs of our customers.”

“We are thrilled to be part of the customer-driven innovation team at Wells Fargo,” said Michael Pratt, chief marketing officer for Panini. “The combination of the innovative CEO Desktop Deposit service with the proven reliability and performance of Panini scanners offers a compelling value for business customers.”

More than 21,000 Wells Fargo customers have increased their efficiency by depositing 450 million checks worth $1.4 trillion through the CEO Desktop Deposit service since its launch in 2005. Enrollment and items deposited have soared by double-digit percentages each year since, and Wells Fargo ranks No. 1 in remote capture volume and locations for 2011.

The CEO Desktop Deposit service, a proprietary Web-based remote deposit service which does not require a software download, is ideal for businesses that receive most of their payments by check, because it allows them to make deposits from any business location at any time, whether or not a physical bank location is close by. Not only do companies save on transportation and insurance costs, they reduce their ecological footprint, too: Wells Fargo estimates the CEO Desktop Deposit service has saved 2.1 million miles of driving, 117,673 gallons of gas, and 2.2 million pounds of CO2 to date.

“The CEO Desktop Deposit service continues to grow, because it’s simple and affordable to set up – all you need is a scanner, a computer, and an Internet connection,” said Knight. “With the addition of Panini’s support for Mac machines, our customers have more remote deposit options than ever.”
