Electronic Depoist
I am currently working on an RFP for a new client.  Included in the RFP is remote deposit using a desktop scanner, which is easy to accomodate.  Also included in the request is the following:

Financial Institution offers electronic deposit (in addition to Desktop Deposit) -- process allowing the client to capture check images and securely transmit file to Financial Institution.

I am not sure how this is different from Remote Deposit Capture using a scanner or mobile device.

Does anyone have any thoughts on this that might help?

RE:Electronic Depoist
Could they perhaps be referencing ICL, where they would be using a third-part solution (software/hardware) to capture and the submitting an ICL to your bank for processing?

RE:Electronic Depoist
The Remote Deposit Capture (RDC) electronic file is typically Image Cash Letter (ICL) file of the check images that can be ingested into your core banking system or Item Processing sysem for processing the cusotmer's deposit and the check images can be sent to the Federal Reserve for settlement.  There are specific file requirements including image quality standards.  I hope this helps.

RE:Electronic Depoist
It sounds like they are asking if they can scan to their own software and just send the ICL file to the bank for deposit processing.
We get that question a lot more these days.

RE:Electronic Depoist
It all depends on what the software can accomodate. Usually software that interacts with a mobile device (Android and IOS) is different than software that interacts with a scanner. If you are simply dealing with the images being passed, then the process is the same.

You will also have to figure out if you need to create the X9/IC file for deposit of if the Financial Institution has that covered.

If the bank is under 10 B in assets or so I would feel comfortable presuming they are referring to mobile RDC.

RE:Analyzed Savings or MMA accounts on RDC

Do you mean RDC into SAV or MMA Accounts?  A consumer could RDC into a SAV or MMA I beleive. But for commercial customers you cant by law in most places co-mingle security deposits with regular funds due to the required accounting of those funds.  It creates a terribly challenging acco...

Analyzed Savings or MMA accounts on RDC

What would be some reasons why a Financial Institution would prohibit (or allow) RDC on Analyzed SAV/MMA?
