Accepting Image Replacement Docs via RDC
Image Replacement Documents (IRDs) are mailed to clients (by the BOFD, in this case, my employer) for items that we have to return, usually due to NSF on the paying account. A recent upgrade by our vendor to the RDC system is making this a very troublesome process now, as we will need to add two 'IRD' options (one for personal checks, one for business checks)  in the 'edit item' drop down menu, when clients try to deposit the IRD via RDC. Our vendor said 'most financial institutions do not allow IRDs to be redeposited via RDC'.... I'm thinking 'then WHY would we be sending these out to clients and isn't the whole point of RDC that clients do not want to go to a branch or are not near one?'. Input greatly appreciated. Thanks!

What we have typically done is have clients on RDC be setup to auto-redeposit any chargeback items for that second time. Not all clients will want that to be a rule, but have found that it does make for a better customer experience if clients subscribe to that chargeback handling service.

We do not allow our business customers to use Remote Deposit for scanning an IRD.  That's been our policy for 5+ years.  However, I am reviewing the policy.  Currently, if our customer has an IRD, they must take it to the branch, or an ATM.  I would be interested to hear from anyone that allow business customers to scan an IRD.  What has your experience been?  Are there any issues in the processing stream resulting from a scanned IRD?  Any risk or loss issues?  Thanks in advance.

Do you mean RDC into SAV or MMA Accounts?  A consumer could RDC into a SAV or MMA I beleive. But for commercial customers you cant by law in most places co-mingle security deposits with regular funds due to the required accounting of those funds.  It creates a terribly challenging acco...
