Mobile Remote Deposit Capture might just be the hottest topic and point of debate in the RDC Industry today. Mobile RDC encapsulates all of the most dynamic aspects of the banking industry: Risk & Fraud, Scalability, Deployability, Convenience, “next-Gen” products and services, and of course passion & skepticism. But does mobile RDC really need to be such a point of debate? Isn’t it just the next step in the evolution of payments and technology?
Over the past several weeks, numerous announcements have been made about Mobile RDC by solution providers, banks and credit unions. It seems inevitable that mobile RDC is part of the future of payments. In fact, a press release from USAA crossed the wires (
Click here to read the USAA Mobile RDC Press Release) as I write this commentary which highlights the fact that Mobile RDC is now beyond the concept stage, but truly a valued service customers are looking for and using.
A few highlights from the USAA announcement:
- In Less Than a Year, 1.5 Million Checks and Almost $1 Billion Have Been Deposited via Mobile Devices
- The bank has seen a weekly average of 50,000 checks and $30 million deposited with Deposit@Mobile.
- more than one-third (35 percent) of all checks are deposited via remote deposit capture
Mobile RDC and the evolution of Payment Technologies will be one of the main topics at the RDC Summit. Please join us as we, along with other RDC Summit Sponsors and Attendees (including Mitek Systems, several top-10 financial institutions, corporations and even USAA) discuss this topic in depth.
In fact, let’s start the discussion right here on RemoteDepositCapture.com. –And let’s be brutally honest (you can register with an alias and hide your email address, if you’d like). Is Mobile RDC a good idea? A bad idea? What are the risks and how do we manage them? Which customers should use / will use this service? How will it be priced?
Please ask and answer all of these questions and any others you may have. –And we’ll be sure to go into even greater detail at the RDC Summit.
