How are banks organized for RDC?
We are in the process of analyzing and then implementing remote deposit capture for our customers.  One of the questions has been should the implementation group (the one that sets up the new clients) be under the Operations, Sales, Product group.  Can you tell me what the industry is doing and provide a basic workflow within a bank (starts with sales and they do XXXX, then goes to implemenation and they do YYY etc).

We have seen a couple of different ways of organizing.  One bank uses the operations group to implement their RD solution.  We see flaws in this approach.  Operations tends to only look at this as a necessary evil and not as a sales and marketing event.  Therefore, they may not pay as much attention to what the client is expecting in terms of benefits, support, interaction with their other banking services (for instance, cash).  In addition, operations may not understand the client's business or business needs and instead, implement all clients exactly the same because efficiency is what they are all about.

A better structure is to have operations and product implement as a team with sales working with this team prior to implementation to educate them on the client, their business and industry and why the client is buying RDC.
