The AFP 2011 conference held in Boston last week was well attended and included a very complete agenda for Treasury professionals, especially those looking to expand their knowledge about doing business internationally. In today’s business environment between the conference agenda and the exhibitors on the show floor, this was an important conference to attend if you want to stay informed about advances in treasury.
During the conference, we had an opportunity to visit with a number of financial institutions, corporate practitioners and solution providers. Our focus at AFP was on Remote Deposit Capture (RDC), and how the implementation of an RDC system can support an organizations goal to improve productivity and liquidity for corporate customers. There was, however, not a lot on the agenda about RDC giving us more time to spend on the show floor.

RemoteDepositCapture.com attended the AFP Annual conference in Boston last week and it was encouraging to see strong attendance – over 6,000 attendees. It was also great to see a large presence of Remote Deposit Capture hardware vendors. We had the opportunity to speak with RDM, Panini, Burroughs, Epson, Digital Check, Canon and CTS about the products they were showcasing.

While at the RDC Summit 2011, I had the opportunity to attend two sessions, in the Credit Union Track, on Mobile Remote Deposit Capture. While the two credit unions presented in different sessions, a few common themes stood out among the presenting institutions: Mobile RDC is not as risky as you might think and RDC can have a big impact on the FI. Tony Rasmussen from Mountain American Credit Union (MACU) presented in the “Mobile RDC for Credit Unions” session and Mary O’Rourke from Randolph Brooks Federal Credit Union (RBFCU) presented in the “Mobile & Consumer Capture Case Studies” session.

I have the honor of being invited back to Washington DC to meet with and present to the FFIEC on the latest and greatest with RDC. The last time this happened, it was part of the process the FFIEC went through as they developed their RDC Risk Management Guidance. What are the issues, concerns, etc. that would make a “short list” of items which should be addressed? Your input is appreciated.
